Comments: I enjoyed your site very much.Your art in particular.The history of Palestinian art was also very interesting to me. I am an Palestinian American artist whose family is from Ramallah. I studied art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and graduated in 1953.Since then I have been working operating a fairly large sucessful graphic design firm. In 1999, after 46 years as a graphic designer, I found time to explore this new medium, sculptural "assemblage". The inspiration and opportunity to explore this mode of artistic expression comes at a time when my commercial career has sufficiently matured so that I can apply my skills, experiences, and a lifetime of artistic perspective to create "statements" with these assemblages. Most of my "raw" materials come from private collections, my own photography, flea markets, and antique shops, where I spend hours searching for items that inspire use in my boxes. My process, using these "found" materials, feels to me much like theater. As in the legitimate stage, I work within a three-dimensional form to portray the comedy or tragedy of life. I create these miniature, silent, "theaters" to express my feelings about a range of subjects. Most of my work deal with the tragic situation in Palestine. Human rights violations etc. The three-dimensional objects I construct, using the found and fabricated objects (my "Thespians"), are a series of "performances" that share my deepest feelings with my audience. I have recently exhibited 4 of my "boxes" in an all Palestinian art exhibit in New York called Williamsburg Bridges Palestinian. I will have my first solo exhibit opening on January 24th at the Cape Museum of Fine Art in Cape Cod MA I hope I have not bored you with this information. Warmest regards to you both Rajie

Comments: Brother Ismail, Greetings, I am a Palestinian who immigrated to Canada in 1966. I assisted Mr Patrick White in writing a book called " The Palestinians". We have chosen one of your postcards to dominate the cover which will display the colours of the Palestinian flag. The postcard in question shows a Palestinian woman with eight Palestinian girls and boys in their costumes below her. The woman is carrying flowers in her hands and a couple of houses appear in the background. I wonder if we could have your permission to use the postcard and how can I get a good copy of the postcard? If you send me your fax number, I could fax you a copy of the book cover to see what I am talking about. I never had the opportunity to meet with you, but I remember talking to you on the phone on one of my visits to Kuwait in the 80s. If I remember correctly, you were going to go outside Kuwait at that time. Patrick White is one of Canada's well known poets who published 14 poetry books and wrote numerous poems on the Palestinians. I hope to hear from you soon.
