Tamams
experience with the Palestinian tragedy was
different from Ismails although she
confronted the same suffering and pain. She was
still a child when she began painting in her
Palestinian hometown, Jaffa. But soon she became
one of the victims of the Palestinian
catastrophe, when she and her family were forced
to leave Jaffa by sea for Beirut, Lebanon, as
refugees The following years were extremely
difficult for the whole family but Tamams
talent attracted attention providing her with
good opportunities to paint and receive
encouragement from such prominent Lebanese
artists as Mustafa Farroukh, Qaisar Jumayyel and
Omar Onsi .
